about
Although Cumbiagra has been playing original songs for over a decade now, this is the first that has been released as a studio version.
Somewhere between a salsa and a cumbia Alas de Pollo follows the musings of a young chicken as he wishes he could fly high like a falcon, instead of being on the ground, crowded with his friends and family with no space to move.
He tries to ask God what it's all about, and in the last verse we see his realization about heaven and earth.
Bonus--spot the line based on a Frida Kahlo quote but different.
lyrics
Whoa ohhhhhhhhh
Whoa ohhhhhhhhh
Palomas y gaviotas, aguilas y gavilanes
Yo quiero volar, no quiero sufrir, yo quiero vivir
Yo quiero volar
(Coros during solos)
Pa’ que me sirven alas pa’ volar
Si tengo patas pa’ bailar
Whoa ohhhhhhhhh
Yo quiero volar, no quiero sufrir, yo quiero vivir
Yo quiero volar

Cumbiagra was formed in 2008 in Brooklyn, New York, and developed their sound at a weekly gig at Baraza on Ave. C in the lower east side.
Old school Cumbia ties it all together, but there are strong psychedelic vibes.
They jam out.
